Information on the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2

Currently, numerous trade fairs, concerts and conferences are being canceled due to the spread of the new coronavirus. Many participants and interested parties now have urgent questions about the IIoT Conference, which was originally planned for mid of June in Munich and has been postponed to December.

In the following, we have summarized our answers to the most important questions.

Will IIot Conference and automatica take place in December?

After postponing the conference together with automatica by six months, we assume that the situation will have calmed down by the end of the year and that automatica and the associated IIoT Conference can take place. However nobody can say for sure how long the current restrictions will remain active.

Our preparations for the conference at Messe München are continuing with the aim of a regular event at the end of the year.

Of course, we will keep you informed about decisions on this in a timely manner.

If the conference is canceled: Will you refund my ticket fee?

If the conference is canceled, we would try to offer you an alternative date to which you can rebook. If this is not an option, we will refund your ticket fee.

What happens with costs or cancellation fees if I have already booked travel and accommodation?

The Deutsche Bahn is accommodating in case of a cancellation due to the coronavirus and offers a free refund:

For passengers with tickets to Italy, which is particularly affected by the coronavirus, DB is maintaining its goodwill arrangement: customers who no longer wish to travel can have their ticket refunded free of charge. The same applies with immediate effect to passengers with a DB ticket for whom the specific reason for travel is no longer applicable due to the coronavirus (e.g. official cancellation of a trade fair, concert, sports event or similar). The free refund also applies in the event that a booked hotel in the destination (possibly abroad) is under quarantine. We kindly ask affected customers to contact the sales offices and customer service channels of DB.

Click here for the corresponding DB press release (in German).

For hotels, different cancellation deadlines may apply, please consult these individually.

I come from a risk area or am in quarantine: Can I cancel free of charge?

According to our General Terms and Conditions you can cancel free of charge and without stating a reason up to 14 days before the conference begins.

If you cancel later, we would accommodate you and refund already paid participation fees if the following conditions are met:

  • You cancel before the conference date by sending an e-mail to info@iiot-conference.de and
  • You prove to us that
    • you come from a risk area designated by the Robert Koch Institute within 14 days before the conference date or
    • you are under quarantine, or
    • you have shown typical symptoms and have been forbidden or advised against participation by a doctor.

You have until two months after the conference to provide proof.

We ask for your understanding that due to time constraints we will not make any binding commitments or payments before the conference.

If the conference takes place as scheduled: What are the organizers planning to do to minimize the risk of infection on site?

We are in contact with Messe München as well as with the city of Munich and follow the recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute in organizing the IIoT Conference.

Among other things, additional facilities for hand disinfection will be provided, critical areas will be cleaned regularly during the event and the food on the buffet will be served by catering staff. In addition, we develop reaction plans (e.g. for participants who show symptoms), train the staff deployed, for example with regard to hygiene, and inform participants and speakers in advance and on site about sensible behavior.

Further information

We will update this page when there is new information relevant to the participants.

The Robert Koch Institute offers a web page with a wealth of information about the SARS CoV-2 virus, including an FAQ.
